Bangkok Day 1

P1050246 (138k image)
P1050248 (136k image)

Arrived Bangkok this evening, haven't been here for the past 2yrs. Calling this weekend a holiday long delayed.

Headed out to the Night Bazar after dinner, too bad the rain ruined it. :-( Oh well, there's always tomorrow.

DGPH: TOPO / Nike Dunk Trainer Free

P1050067c (186k image)

We have been working with DG PH quite a bit lately, producing a few figures with the Argentinian design team. The latest sample of Topo arrived the studio, and it is looking good. Unlike previous adFunture releases, which were ALWAYS LATE (I know), the Topo is set to release during DGPH's exhibition at Munky King at the end of September. So, DGPH collectors should be on the look out. We do have a few variants lined up for this cute little thing, but we'll come out with only one for starts.

Sneakers wise, gotta love the purple variant of Nike's hybird Dunk Trainer Free. Loving this color combination. And this hybird feels great on the feet, I guess that's important as well. :-)

Like candy

P1050021 (183k image)

Working on a new production of figures with Alex of Hicalorie. This is only one variant from a few. I love the colors on this piece. With correct lighting, the colors will be much more vibrant.

Expect to see the completed piece in a month.

French Documentary - Shanghai Graffiti

P1040962 (128k image)

Alex, Sivee, and Stephaine came to Shanghai from Paris to shoot their documentary piece on "Shanghai Graffiti". I often find it odd that people come talk to me about graffiti in China while I'm not a graf artist myself. It is always interesting to talk about this art scene from a specator's point of view though.

Thank you for your visit and it was a pleasure doing the session with you 3. Hope you enjoyed your stay in Shanghai, Alex.

The classicals

P1040763 (175k image)

A shot taken from the window of one of our clients. Very nice view of some of Shanghai's old residentials. There are less and less of these structures now. A pleasant surprise to see this scene from his skyscrapper office.

Get it off my chest..

P1040870 (155k image)

Toy business is fun, but at the same time, it is still a business. And with all businesses, you face some of the most nastiest of people in your dealings.

Personally, I don't mind nasty businessmen, because they are in it, doing what they do, for money. Very clean cut, very direct, no "other" motives. If he something "odd" in his dealings, you can bet your ass on it he's trying to make more money somewhere somehow. Fair enough.

What I do mind, however, are a few of those ungrateful sons of bitches out there. I am not looking for someone to kneel on the ground to say thank you or anything, a true to heart acknowlegement will be good enough. And in most cases, you can tell of someone is grateful to you by their speech and actions. In those interactions with those people, you can pretty much feel that they THINK you owe him the world, and the world owes him the world as well. Those are the people I can't stand.

Not to count nickels and dimes, but it is quite easy to see how a collaboration benefits the two sides involved. Each side must "give" and "take". If you "took", you'd better think about how u should "give", or what the other is supposed to "take" from you. Is fair game, son.

Benefits are in terms of tangibles and intangibles. Don't be ignorant to act like you don't see the intangobles exist, because at times, intangibles are very very apparent. Dont' try to kid yourself, 'cos you ain't fooling anyone else. Don't come out looking like an asshole.

And no, don't act like you are king of the world neither. Don't front. Let your resume speak for itself.

We have worked with some of the legends of our time, and you wouldn't believe how nice and down-to-earth they are. The legends, most of the time, are actually the nicest artists to deal with. They came a long way to get to where they are today. They know how it goes, and respect each other. Don't try to skip all that, and act as if you are already a superstar. Gees... even if you think it, don't let it show, ok?? 'Cos most people around you know the real deal... Again, you won't want to be the joke, would you? Be humble.

I've spoken to other folks in our industry, it seems like we have no shortage of people who think "too much of themselves"... meaning "over estimated their self worth". I know this sounds harsh, but hell, you don't know who we are dealing with behind the scenes... I'm sorry that I've to say such harsh things here, but I really need somewhere to vent.

Finally, to those ungrateful sons of bitches (you know who you are); FUCK YOU.

Nike Hybird Ad

Gabriel sent this link over today. Interesting Nike commercial. Nice Medicom hookup as well. Does it sell sneakers? I'm not so sure. With the latest Transformer hype, the last thing I'd like to transform into would be a Bearbrick Dog...

:-) Call me bias.

Thanks Gab.

Another figure sample

Yet to be named, designed by JUKAI, this is something we have been working on for quite time as well. Prototype stage right now.

A Man with Many Hats

P1040719 (118k image)

And the collection just keep on expanding... 3 of my latest favorites. Loving that FL denim one, and red on black Undefeated works well as well. Remix's yellow/white provided a color change for my daily color combo... Didn't usually wear yellow before this cap. Way to go, Eric.
