Goodbye HK
Haven't really stood there and watch the Hong Kong night view in a long time. Leaving this place soon again... Well, the view will stay.

A very nice figure set designed by Japanese design house Wonderful Design Works. It was very nice meeting you in Taipei. Lovely designs, lovely toys. I hope to see you again soon.
And special thanks to Jones, the boss of Paradise Toys in Taipei, for this kind gift. You know this blue definitely matches with ours. Loving it! Cheers.
So we will drink again next time we hit up Taipei. You know it.

Airmax series is just rocking it this year. After the Size? edition, this is the latest one that is siting on my table. Version designed by London's sneaker shop Foot Patrol, there are 2 colorways to this; Brown and Black/White. I quite fancy the Black/White version also. But for now, I'll make sure I rock this pair right.

Mesh cap from Hiroshi's new venture BASEcontrol. Basic gear is what this brand is all about. This is a joint venture between Hiroshi and the man behind Neighborhood, Shinsuke Takizawa. We expect to see tons of stuff happening with this new label soon.

POCKY special edition, with box designed by Devilrobots. This was done for the current exhibition Devilrobots has at PIXIE in Taipei. This version will go on sale in 7-elevens later in the summer.
Special thanks to Jacky from Pixie for this cute little gift.

Another box to open this afternoon. Skynard Double Rings by VISVIM from Japan. I loved the Polke, but I love this one as well. The light color really fit the summer wears. I can't wait to sport these in a sunny day.
VISVIM is making some of today's most trendiest casual shoes in Asia. Stylish and high quality are what set this brand above the rest.
Thanks Brigitte for hooking these up.

Is family time, people. After every trip, I try to spend some time with my folks. This time in HK, I had dinner with my father Paul, Brigitte and William in Shun Wan. They are always sooo good to me. The next day, Paul flew to Shanghai. I'll leave a few days later.
Eddi on 07.12.06 @ 01:05 PM CST [link]
Touched down Hong Kong, and went back to our HK office before anything else. I haven't come back to the HK office for some time now, and found boxes on my table. It was like an early X'mas!! A few goodies in there, loving all of them, I tell ya.
Tees by Futura including his own FL label and his collabo with STUSSY
Thanks L for the kind gifts. Like I said, I love them!
Eddi on 07.12.06 @ 11:48 AM CST [link]
First time seeing this Japanese figure label, and I just fell in love with their colorways. I know the style is similar to another Japanese brand, but then again, there's always something that looks similar to something else. It is the heart and quality that counts. And this one counts!
I snapped 2 figures from this label, and here's one of them. Black and Red, my favorite combo.
More info on Cronics soon. Need to do some research.

I don't know this gentleman's name, but he's definitely adFunture's VIP. He is our VIP not because he bought a shit load of stuff or anything, but simply due to his support in what we are doing. I first noticed him when he was sporting a wore-out adFunture tote bag. He got it from last year. He told me that he used it everyday since, and kept asking me about our future releases. He is well-informed.
Sir, I'm sorry that I didn't find the right moment to ask for your name, but sincerely, thank you for your support. Support by collectors like yourself is what is driving us to make more crazy shit hit after hit.
I hope to see you again next time when I'm in Taipei. You are definitely a VIP in our book! Respect!

UNDERCOVER Taipei
It is simply impressive. And it has a noodle bar in there. But sadly, we were just rushing through, so I didn't sit down for a snack there. But next time, I promise.
Eddi on 07.12.06 @ 11:19 AM CST [link]
Here's Push's latest figure creation; COLD CHIC. As the name suggests, it is a chicken... and chromed cold...
This monster-sized chicken is very huge, and it comes in a carton-box bigger than a master-carton of 100 Dunnies!!
It is one of the coolest figures so far by the Taiwanese legendary.
Eddi on 07.12.06 @ 11:16 AM CST [link]
We were doing a feature for YOHO Magazine (China) during this Taipei trip. DA>TALK feature will have Mark Chang, Jellymon, Kenji and his REMIX crew. Alot of interesting comments were voiced and suggestions were made by everyone on how to better build a new brand in Asia.
Thanks for your time.

It cried just before we were set to go to the airport. I guess Taipei was sad to see us leave also!! haha
Nah,... it just wanted to piss all over us. The rain was soooo heavy. I thought I'd miss our flight. But luckily, Taipei cabbies to the rescue.
Eddi on 07.12.06 @ 12:04 AM CST [link]
Before flying out of Taipei, we had lunch with Tim Tsui and Alice Chan. Tim is best known for his DA TEAM BRONX figure series. We usually run into each other during conventions or exhibitions. First time sitting down with him to eat something. Interesting topics, stories and non-sense.
See you next time, Tim. Take care, Alice. Keep smiling you two.

We were all watching the final game of World Cup together in Nitin's hotel room. We had like 12 people in there. Here's Katsu (Mad Barbarians) with his favorite beverage.
haha! we tried so many snacks that night, it was more about food and jokes than the actual football game.
Good times, my friends.

This is Tracy from Australia. Illustrator designer, you may have seen some of Tracy's works in PLAY TIMES magazine before. She's a good friend of Ben (Nanospores). She's now staying in Taipei for a few months.
It was a pleasure meeting you, Tracy. Good luck in TW.

Here is Shin getting an update of what adFunture is working on as he was checking out the pieces we had on display at TTF. I gave him a brief overview. Devilrobots has been so busy lately, we didn't get to fit them onto our plans once again yet. I quite enjoyed what we did with the Devilrobots Flings collaboration 2 years ago.
Eddi on 07.11.06 @ 11:34 PM CST [link]
Saw a few nice stencils in the Ximen area of Taipei. I liked this one. The person in this image looks like Faye Wong. But that's not why I like the piece.

On our last night in Taipei, we had a short meeting with Taiwan respected designer PUSH and his wife Sunny. We met last year, and it was nice to see them once again.
Alot of ideas were throwing around. Most of them were good.
Wait and see what we have in stored for you, folks. Master Push at work!
I'll see you soon, Push and Sunny. Please take care.

Before going to watch the World Cup Finals, a group of us, over 18 people went to a local arcade to shoot hoops. Well,..... Jones and the rest of the Paradise Toys crew were really good at this... I think they practice this every lunch time...

Mark and Jan are the pioneers of Designer Toys in Taiwan. I met these 2 cats back in 2002 when I first started our label. 4 yrs already, guys....

Ben (Nanospores), Jessica, Me, and Nichole. This was like the end of a camping trip. Everyone is saying goodbye and shit like that. Well, we just tried to drink more....
Thanks to Jan of Monster Taipei for throwing this party for all the TTF folks. It was nice to sit down with all that were involved with TTF. Is family yo!

The guys from PLAY throw some of the best parties. That night, we went through 4 bottles of Scotch, and tons of Taiwan Beer.
Good time. But headache....big time.
Thanks guys. Do this again next year??

Haven't seen Shin since last August. Very nice to be able to run into friends in gatherings such as TTF. Actually, we were also just in time for the opening party of the Devilrobots Exhibition in Taipei. And here we were at the opening reception, a blurry photo of me and Shin and Koto.
Congratulations for the new exhibition, Shin and Koto. Everything is looking great.

Adrian from PLAYTIMES dropped me a gift; a tray of Coke. That's exactly what I needed at the con.
Thanks, man!! Sure, you keep those Trexi and just leave the Coke to me..... :-)

Devilrobots Exhibition opened at PIXIE Gallery Shop on July 7th. A nice turn-out, a great party.
Mark Chang is the owner of Pixie, and his crew Eddie, Ray and Jacky are doing great in making sure everything is going nicely together.

After a long day at TTF, we have decided to treat ourselves to a better "sit-down" dinner instead of another night of eating off the street (you know what I mean).
The dinner-crew consisted of Nichole the Toy Baroness, Nitin (KR), Sichi, Lin, Sammy and myself. Place; SUMI, a Japanese restaurant, inside San Want Hotel.
Sushi, Sashimi, the Miso Soup, etc.
Super nice. Very high standard to details. Everybody was impressed. The bill was reasonable to say the least. We all ate happy and no stomach ache after.
Good.

MAD BARBARIANS IN DA HOUSE!!!
I knew about this designing duo years ago, but this was the first time meeting them. Katsu & Masu are super super nice people. We got the chance to hung out quite a bit over the weekend with a group of toy-headz. Here they were inking off a Mad Barbarians Dunny for me.
Thank you very much, Katsu and Masu. It was a real pleasure meeting you two. Have a safe trip home.

Lei Gong is a figure designed by Phunk Studio, produced by PhalanX. Here's one customed by Eddie (not me) from Pixie. TAIWANESE VERSION!! hahaha He's holding on to a bottle of Taiwan Beer in one hand, and rocking a Taiwanese-styled blue flippers!
Mad cool!!
Eddi on 07.11.06 @ 01:44 PM CST [link]
Upcoming figure by Devilrobots. Dang!!! I must have this!! This reflects the Taiwanese snack I spoke of, and designed for their Taipei exhibition held at PIXIE right now.

This year's TTF was quite successful. Many visitors to the convention, and their response seemed very positive. Many artists were there also, including Devilrobots, Touma, Tokidoki, Mori Chack, Danny Chan, Ultraman, Toby, Push, Mark Chang, Gilimon, Wonderful Design Works, Tim Tsui, Alice Chan, Frank Kozik, and of course, Jukai, and Jellymon of our very own.
Eddi on 07.11.06 @ 01:33 PM CST [link]

After the setting the booth at TTF, our crew was led by Jukai to look for food in the night-market. The "night market" is pretty well-known. Jukai is also very well known for knowing where the good food are... :-)
The green fruit is "bala", that's part of the reason why Jukai called his design crew DJebala. That only make sense in Chinese, don't worry.
The BEST has to be the Smelly Tofu!!! I love this snack even when I was a kid. They sell these in HK also, but presented differently. I was dunking those down that night. Sooo tasty.
Sichi wasn't too fond of them though.
The bowl was ... pig's blood. Yes, that's a dish too, and a damn good one.
We all went home with a stomach-full.
Taiwan is also known for Bubble Tea.. and we tasted some of the best that night.
Eddi on 07.11.06 @ 01:23 PM CST [link]

Early morning flight from Shanghai to HK, and then transfered to Taipei on July 5th. A hectic, but short process. Got out of the Taipei airport and was greeted by a MB... taxi. Nicely.
But the best treat was when Jukai gave us a Taiwanese local candy as a welcome treat to his home country. THAT candy was worth the hectic. Cheers, Kai.

The whole gang including Kai, Eden, Sammy, Lin and myself will be heading to Taipei in a few hours. The studio is a mess... just like before any other trip I take. We have a full schedule ahead of us, so selecting what to bring on this trip became an issue.
I'm tired as hell, but what can you do. Gotta pack.
See you in Taipei.

Just in time for TTF.
The new adFunture Tee with graphics by P.E.N. Crew. This is the first collaboration we are doing with the Chinese graffiti team, and expect more to come soon. Only 50 made. A small quantity will be available this weekend in Taipei.
Thanks to Lan and the rest of PEN for this.

Homin of Eblis Hungi visited tonight with the label's newest tee collection. Lots of "bling" stuff in this collection. What can I can, Homin likes his stuff rocking in the clubs.
EB's jeans is what I rock mostly nowadays, liking the quality of it. Keep up the great stuff, Homin.

Frank (w+K) called and said that he sent a visitor my way to da>space. Adam was that visitor.
I was surprised. For those who don't know, Adam was the founder of important cult magazine TOKION.
We ended up chatting briefly about the figure project he did way back with Barry McGee, Os Gemos, Stash, etc. This was considered an early designer figure movement. It was my pleasure to have met its creator. Mad respect, Adam.

Went out with Enzo Dal Verme this afternoon for a photo shoot for Flair Magazine in Europe. Enzo is the photographer for a number of European fashion magazines, including Flair and Vanity Fair.
After a short chat at the hotel, Enzo chose to do the photo shoot in the "Bund Tunnel" with all the lazer lightz and shit going on. The shots didn't come out as expected, so we ended up doing another shoot at another location. But it was fun for me too, because I've actually never been in the "Bund Tunnel" in all of the past 4 yrs in Shanghai...
It was a pleasure talking to you, Enzo. Look forward to seeing you again soon.

Why "Con-Edition"? Because this was made to be released in two upcoming conventions; TTF & SDCC. In SDCC, this edition will be sold at the booth of DKE Toys. And for TTF, we'll be selling them at our adFunture booth.

Here's the project that we've been helping Jukai with in the past few months; G-ROBOT. A poster of it has been posted before. Well, the prototype is finally ready. I'm glad that Jukai is happy with it. G-Robot is the icon character of his Taiwanese design crew DJEBALA. Of course, there's no better place to put this on display than this week's Taipei Toys Festival. Check it out, people. This thing is big.
Kai, here you go, my brother. This is something that we've been talking about for a long time, glad to see it coming to life step by step.

A little incident on the road. With my driver, that's usual, and he usually wins the arguments. The gentleman in red was pretty pissed off after the cop stood on our side. WZL was amazed from watching all the action from inside our van.

The ENG vs POR was more dramatic. While we have alot of friends from the UK sitting in the same place watching, the outcome caused a sad scene. Sorry Sammy. They'll do it right next time around.
But nothing beats the unexpected turnout from the BRA vs FRA match up. Was that really the Brazil team playing on the field?? What da ?? The way the game was played was unbelievable. "Go on, nothing to see here."
Eddi on 07.02.06 @ 05:01 AM CST [link]
Over 100 pieces on display, over 400 visitors to the opening event, I, CHINA was, to us at least, a success. A good portion of the participating artists came to Shanghai to participate in this opening event. We passed the mic over to them to introduce themselves during the opening ceremony. I think it was the least we could do to show our respect and appreciation. Afterall, no artist = no exhibition.
Special thanks to WZL, Julia, Apple, Blue, Chris, PEN Crew, and of course, Sam for helping us throughout the whole thing. Jukai, Lin, Sammy, and myself would like to thank everybody, really everybody, who showed up to support us. That meant alot to us and to the artists as well.
Thank you.
