BERENJENA - IS HERE!!
Friday, May 30th

Look Wat They Found.

I try to find time to "surf" the net everyday, just to see what people have found. More often than not, I'd come across something I myself found interesting. And more often than not, I'm amazed at how people found these info/resources in the first place. I mean, where do you even start to look at?

Hats off to those who are out there searching everynight.
Me? I just snatch over what you found and put it on my stupid blog. (what~?)

Look what $and (kr board member) found!

Classic labels, classic characters, CLASSIC COLLABO; Bounty Hunter x James Jarvis. The celebration of Amos 10th Anniversary.

Man, I have collaborations that have deep meanings. From the OG Evil Martin to this King Ken Kun, Jarvis 10 years in this designer figure culture. What can you say but "Mad Respect"? And that's what I'm sayin'.

Need to get me one of these....

Frank, like the guys were asking on the board, when will you come out with your version of Skull Kun? Eddi is waiting.

PS: Good job, $and.

----------------------------------------------------------

First saw this trailer in New York Comic-Con, and I was totally blown away by the animation. The Spider-Man in here looks way better than the actual movie, but this comment is not being fair, of course. With the Hollywood movies of Hulk and Ironman (came out already) being the current events, the two classic characters are being madly promoted here with this trailer. Love it. I watched this about 10 times by this point.

TK (Milk) put this link on his blog. Nice find, thank you!

----------------------------------------------------------

On a totally separate note, things are still in motion at the factory, so is not like nothing new will be coming out anytime soon. However, I'd rather put something on here when they are closer to being "ready". I had those fiascos before, and don't want to go through the same nightmares nowadays.... I have a weak heart after all these years. But boys, no need to guess. Teddy Troop fans will have a fun year in 2008. But some of you might also hate me in 2008, 'cos Series 3 will be blind boxed, yes. However, blind boxes do have their charms, just wait for it. You'll see. No teasing here, just sayin'.

ENDANGERED SPECIES PAC by Puma & Atmos & Iwago

Really digging that Endangered Species Pac by Puma x Atmos, and found out that there is actually a third party involved in the project; Mitsuaki Iwago. He is a professional wildlife photographer with an amazing portfolio.

More photos after the jump.

A little Yoka in your life

After GSUK opened back in Nov of 2007, Miranda (Clutter Magazine) and I had been playing around with the idea of putting up yet another "design contest". At that point, we had quite a few question marks up in the air, for example, "which platform to use?", "so what if you win?", "how do we host this thing?", etc. The usual, you know. Near Feb of 2008, the answers became quite clear. At NYCC weekend, answers were "crystal clear". YOKA, our yet to officially release new platform figure, would become our subject for this project. After seeing YOKA standing in the display case during NYCC, all have agreed that he is THE choice. While we have a few more things planned for YOKA, the YOKA DESIGN COMPETITION would be the first event to go live.

Before it gets officially started, I'd first like to thank Miranda, Nick and the rest of the crew at Clutter for working on this with us. And for those who are considering if they should join in the fun, well, YOU SHOULD.

Please visit http://www.cluttermagazine.com/yoka for all you need to know about this contest, and how this will actually go down.

And for those who are saying to themselves "But I don't even know what da heck Yoka looks like!" Well, you'll be seeing alot of YOKA soon enough. This is not a hint, is a fact.

So, go, browse, download, print out, start sketching, and buy a good copy of Illustrator program, and get crackin'!

PUMA: Sneaker Freaker & Atmos

A late congrats to Woody and the Sneaker Freaker crew for their latest collabo with Puma. The Blaze of Glory that SF put together definitely looks hot. Puma seems to be doing alot as of late. After the resurrection of Blaze of Glory, SF put up photos of the latest collaboration project between Puma and Japanese sneaker boutique Atmos. Themed after the good old Panda, this looks to be another winner coming out of the pack.

On a related note, Pandas seem to be everywhere this year. We got one coming your way soon as well, ... well, not just one. ALOT.

New Wave of Goods

The Summer Releases are about to get ship out. I've looking forward to this day for months now... Always want to see the collectors' reaction when they see the actual goods in front of them in stores. The original colorway of Berenjena, a hot new colorway of Monster KaR, Wee Stickers, Chinese Bukas and the Perk Pioneers, all are in this shipment. So, that's pretty much the past few months' work all right there.

On the Teddy Troop side of things, we got 4 related items in this release. One of them is this 9cm version of Teddy Troop, in blank white form. Showed this box before, but some people thought it was for Series 3. :-)

Well, there you go.

Crazy Pig SLM Ring / Say No to Drugs

As the follow-up to the Crazy Pig SLM collaboration we did with the London silver brand, it was Armand's turn to make use of his tool of the trade. The SLM Silver Ring by Crazy Pig.

Some say the "birdy" is out, but hey, you still give people the finger every now and then, and you know it. "Flipping the birdy" is not a fashion statement, it is a statement, but not a fashion statement. Is ok, use it, give it, flip it. And don't let people tell you that you are out of style for doing so.

If someone does say that to you, what do you do? Flip him the birdy.

Someone believes a Barry Bonds 1987 Fleer baseball card where Bonds autographed with an inscription "Say No to Drugs" is "a once in a lifetime piece of Americana." And the seller is asking a cool $19,499USD for it. A nice play with the current steroid scandal, but still, is this really that rare to find? And is "Americana" that swallow that this card is already "once in a lifetime piece"? I'd hope not.

(Without the inscription on it, you can find a perfect conditioned card for $349.00USD)

Mainland Paused for 3 Minutes

On May 19th, 14:30, the whole China stopped for 3 minutes. Sirens went off, people stood, cars stopped, MSN were all set to offline, all major Mainlad websites went black and white screens. All acts were made to pay respects to those victims of the earthquake. Donations collected as of the time of this post: Over $100,000,000USD.

All Olympic-related events will be delayed over the next 3 days.

Mad respects to those who are out there on site giving their all to help out.

THE PRISM COLLECTION

On May 19th, Reed Space in New York will drop the PRISM bag collection that Jeff Staple has collaborated on with Hiroshi Fujiwara's HEADPORTER.   A much more colorful collection than what usually Headporter does for their own capsules.  Jeff explained the inspiration of his PRISM concept on his Honeyee blog, for those who are intested.  This collection will only be available at Reed Space and Headporter Japan.

This collection contains 7 pieces, and you can hit up the links above to see all the photos.
Check them out.

Fragment Tennis Classic / INSA Wants & Needs

While the Panda Pack will be charity auctioned off to aid the earthquake survivors, Fragment Design has also worked with Nike to release a series Zoom Tennis Classics to be launched in Fall of 2008. The 4 colorways seem mighty attractive. Hiroshi Fujiwara is known for more subtle design details, here he only embossed a small Fragment logo on the heel.

INSA opened his latest exhibition titled "Wants and Needs" at EXTRABOLD in Luxemburg. Works showcased his fetish for ladies' legs and high heels. Very nice work, as always. I love seeing artists sticking to what they love, and in this case... well, legs and high heels.

Yes, you get to walk through these legs to get into the other room.

Sichuan Earthquake

By this time, most of you if not all should have learned about the 7.8 earthquake in Mainland China's Sichuan province. Shanghai and Beijing got some rippled effects as well, but nothing as damaging as what has happened in Sichuan.

At the adFunture camp, we have a handful of co-workers from the province, we send our best regards to them and their families.

This is time for families to rebuild their homes, but resource is often a problem in Mainland, so folks in and around China have already putting up donations to help the situation. We will do our part, but we are still in the midst of putting something together.

Julia has posted info on monetary donations for those in and outside of China who would like to chip in to help.

Hiroshi will also be putting out the Fragment x Nike Tennis Classics, the Panda Pack, for charity auction. All proceeds will go to help those in Sichuan. This is not the first time Hiroshi has made special kicks in help of earthquake survivors. He did that with HTM Air Force 1 a few years ago for the quake in Japan as well.

This is not about the government or politics. This is about human beings suffering from a natural disaster. Pls do what you can.

Han-Han / Supa

Some people blog about sneakers (ahem...), some blog about their own latest products (ahem...), some blog about the dinners that they had with friends (ahem... I love it when some of you hate us blogging about food), and some people blog about their latest flings (nope, not the monkey Fling, I mean "fling". And nope, I don't blog about that... not that I have any to blog about).

Some people blog about politics. There are some interesting bloggers out there on this subject. In China though, a few of them are getting some mighty attentions. Through Julia, I came to notice the blog of Han-Han (韩寒 ). He has a clever way to writing, and part of the fun is reading between the lines. And at times, his "to the point" comments were quite funny as well. If you must weight his "popularity" basing on web stats or hits, ok, 134,423,179 visits as of today. Good enough for you?

"Is funny how a country who doesn't have the rights to watch CNN has the rights to ban it." - Han.
He said it, not me, so pls don't block my site. :-)

This kinda answered your search.

PUMA x SPEED RACER

PUMA Scattista got mixed in the latest "Speed Racer" collabo project.
Just in time for the movie's L.A. premier as well.

Have you seen the movie yet? Well, have you seen the cartoon/comic versions of it?
Having seen the new IRON MAN movie, I'd be interested to see how Hollywood give this Japanese comic a 2008 makeover.

Hey, how come no one made a sneaker basing on Iron Man? I would want a Red/Yellow sneaker,... But no, I'm not getting BAPE...

Working...

Playing catch-up in the studio this week, after the successful showing in Hangzhou last week, lots of follow-ups to do, orders to fill. Which is good. On the international side of things, we are also preparing to ship out our next wave of new products. I know lots of peeps are waiting on the Chinese Design Series of Bukas and Perk Pioneers, those are coming your way, so hang tight.

DGPH's Berenjena, on the other hand, made a sneak release in Taipei where DGPH had the opening at Pixie Gallery Store for their first solo exhibition in Taiwan. We made 100 special versions for the show as well, the strawberry flavored goodness. Loved that colorway. I heard the opening was a success, so a big congrats to the design team and Mark Chang is in order. Mark has always been doing great things in Taiwan, mad props to the brother who has been representing adFunture in Taiwan for the past 3 years. We have been working quite closely with DGPH this year, that's quite visible in our product offerings in recent months. More are coming, definitely. Personally, I love their characters. I know other companies have worked with them before, but we would like to go further with the Argentinian team, and present to you all even more goodies designed by the trio. Hope you dig their works as much as we do.

Thanks Crew / Old Boba

A special thanks to the adFunture crew for doing such a great job at CICAF. Panda, thank you.

------------------------------------------

I forgot how many of this I have in my collection, I usually buy it whenever I see one. I got this from NYCC last month. OG Star Wars Boba Fett figure from 1979. Since late 90's, Hasbro has made at least 10 retro versions of this one character figure, but I still find this old one the most attractive. The new ones have way better sculpts and articulations, but this one still holds the most charm.

I collect "things", but mostly things that serves my memory-sake. I still collect toys, but mostly older stuff now. Toys that I had as a kid. This is quite common for people in their 30s, I think. I'm not so much into the newer stuff. I'd get an old Boba over the new ones any day.

What's your favorite toy from your childhood? Never too old to have memories.

New Grand Tour

The New Grand Tour Exhibition presented by Diesel opened on April 30th. It was a celebration of not only artworks by the 5 outstanding artists but also "friendships" that the 5 individuals have built over the years in different parts of the world. Between the walls of amazing art pieces were people from different walks of life and countries, all were gathered for Suitman Young Kim, Jose Parla, Rostarr, Deanne Cheuk and Davi Russo.

Was the New Grand Tour just about a journey through Mainland China, or, was it about the journey of life itself? Either way, what was on display seemed to be much more.

到北京参加"Suitman" Young Kim,Jose Parla, Deanne Cheuk, Davi Russo 和 Rostarr 他们The New Grand Tour的开展礼。

Suitman's gigantic vending machine

Jose Parla's works left viewers speechless. A few of these would look great on my walls, Jose. (ahem...)
Jose

Rostarr put up a massive collection of artworks as well.

Fedrico and Young were the main curators of this event. Hats off to these 2 gentlemen, job well done.

RAGE JOHNSON was in charge of spinning the night and the crowd. Misson accomplished. Note the uniform he was sporting, that's a chinese security guard uniform, a nice touch.

Grace & Jill flew over to Beijing from Hong Kong for this. 2 of many many friends who did that to be there that night, myself included.

What's that Suitman sculpture in the display case?? Could it be?...

Congratulations to the 5 artists for such a successful event. Thank you for having me there, I enjoyed it very much, Young.
