10/28/2007: "Andre+KAWS+Jarvis+Delta+Colette"

Just came back from a short trip to Beijing for a rather interesting event. An event slash exhibition that featured some of the most well-known urban artists today; Mr. A (Andre), Delta, Colette, James Jarvis, Phunk Studio and KAWS. Yes, Beijing. That wasn't the interesting part; The interesting part was that they all contributed to this event for Chinese sports mega brand LI-NING. That was what I found interesting.

Li-Ning is Mainland's biggest Chinese sports brand, and 3rd in the country in terms of sales. The 1st and 2nd are Nike and Adidas. Some folks out there might have heard of Li-Ning because it signed SHAQ O'Neal a few years ago as its spokesperson, and the brand has been going strong. Making some noise in the NBA arena.

This exhibition project was titled "Say No to Limits". The artists had their art piece on display at the venue, and their crossover goods with Li-Ning hung on the walls as a launch as well.

I personally found Boris' (Delta) RADAR sculpture overwhelming. I saw it on different blogs at different times before, but this was the first time I saw this up close and personal. Mad props to Boris.

It was a cool gathering, and my sincere thanks to the folks at Li-Ning for inviting me to go see this.

James' piece was hand drawn, very beautiful. And I like Andre's touch of having Mr. A rockin' Li-Ning's sneakers.
