08/13/2006: "CREAM #23"

#23. I always treat this as my lucky number. Ever since I was a kid. No, not because of Michael Jordan. New York Yankees' Don Mattingly wore this number, and he was my baseball idol back then.

Anyways. As I looked through our references in our studio, I found CREAM Magazine's 23rd issue. So I gave it a re-read. The feature on NIGO and his BAPE was very in depth, and quite interesting. Of course, his story is not new, but it was still interesting to read it in his own words. He started his own label 13 years ago, and his great accomplishments are undeniable.

As a brand owner myself, I have to respect those who made great success with theirs. You don't have to buy what they make, but you must respect their hardship.

Respect is earned, not given.
