Enter the Colorful World of OLIVER HIBERT

Part of the fun of my job is discovering new artists to play with.
Of course, prior to my discoveries, most of these artists have been doing big things.
It was refreshing for me when I came across the colorful world of one Oliver Hibert.

Painting titled "Secret Twins".

A funny one titled "Brothers Bump & Lump".

Oliver worked together with Nike on a few Air Max Plus.
These were part of the "Nike Tuned 10th Anniversary Footlocker Exclusive".
Hot~~

Nice kicks for the ladies.
Is hard not to get my radar when you make beautiful graphics and hook-up with sneakers.

But that's me though.
Don't know if Oliver's work earned your interests.
Check out his site for more of the artist's works.

Cheng Du Pt.1

I found myself wandering around the Mainland city of Cheng-Du over the weekend.
Nicole and Box were with me on this brief visit.
It was my first time visiting this city of beautiful people.
Yes, I said "beautiful people" and I wasn't being poetic, as Cheng-Du is known for its pretty female citizens. However, I've yet to prove this over my 2 nights stay. Ahem..

Friends like Rabbi and Sketch had the guts to look me in the eyes and assured me that this hot pot was not spicy. Yes, it wasn't. If you can't call this "spicy", I don't what else can be! Liars! I almost lost my vocal chords, but I survived, thank you very much.

Will I have this again on my next visit? Hell yes!

Brought this for the road test.
I'm sure we'll see alot of these PUMA LiFTs around this summer.

Channel Young / Shoes Master / Monster Pack / 3:30am Dumplings!

Sherry from CHANNEL YOUNG (tv station in Mainland) came did a feature on ICONIC-1 last week. Spent a good hr & a half filming the place and did a simple Q&A, we even had her doodled up a 10" Teddy Troop at the shop. The episode aired last Friday night, but I was outta town, so I missed it. Working hard at letting people know what we are doing. We (kinda) know what we are doing, but I have absolutely no clue as to how to really explain it. I mean, we are not your average "toy maker", but to some societies, "toys" are still just toys. There's a learning process, just like any other sub-cultures. Anyways. Many thanks to CHANNEL YOUNG for the opportunity, and nice meeting Sherry, come back anytime.

Japanese sneaker magazine SHOES MASTER showed off their latest cover.
Another collabo between Supreme and Nike graced the cover and this will, just like the Supreme Air Trainer issue cover, be remembered as THE image for promoting this collaborative shoe. As a "side topic", this issue also marks the first time Shoes Master covers other Asian countries/cities besides Japan. The editors visited Shanghai, Taipei and Hong Kong to see how the sneaker cultures are like in those cities. They paid us a visit in Shanghai where we explained what's up in our city, so I'm quite excited to see how that spread will turn out. Grab a copy if you see it.

Speaking of sneakers, here's another variant in the soon-to-release Japanese Movie Monster Pack from PUMA. Triple-headed Dragon,... Scary.. The texture on this STEPPER model turned out amazingly. We'll drop this pack at ICONIC-1 in 2 weeks.

During the recent Taiwan visit, I spent a nite at Tai-Chung (Central Taiwan).
It was the MANIA x MACHI party at XAGA, so a group of us went onto Bruce's turf to see what up. After the party (no photos, a good party though), we were looking for food, and Bruce brought us to this joint which only opens everynight at 3:30am! Yup! Operation hours are 3:30am to 10:00am, selling meat dumplings. Amazingly enough, there is always a lineup.

I shit you not, this was when we got there!

Bruce the Taiwan don making sure we do get enough food in the middle of the night.

Eric showing off the hanna he got from his recent trip to the Far East.
Got a nice tan out of the trip...

Jesse and his very cool girl.
That's right, Jesse, keep smelling that sauage.

Great dumplings, but I doubt I'll stay up that late just to have it.
You should try it at least once though if you visit Tai-Chung anytime soon.

OVK / CMF / CA

Met up with Jesse at OVERKILL.
Got some updates on today's Taiwan scene and biz status.
Noticed Jesse got the PUMA's Screaming Hand First-Round around his ankles.
Sick shoez!!

Did an interview with the boyz from Cadmus Family.
By stats, they are the top dog in TW when it comes to Chinese portals.
Thanks for having me.
Will update again when that spread gets online.

Coffee Alley.
Might be my new joint at Taipei. Nice environment, and very nice waffles!
Jukai brought me there, so you know is good food!

Ahem....

Bootleg Kaiju / Taipei Toy Shop

"Bootleg Kaiju", a collaboration between Mishka NYC and adFunture.
Sculpted and handpainted by LamourSupreme.
Produced by a Chinese factory.
A run of 500pcs at least??
Well, when that Chinese factory is adFunture, then all bets are off.
Expect the unexpected.

Congratulations to Greg and Mikal on the new Brooklyn store opening.
Couldn't make it to the opening, cos I was in Taiwan.

----------------------------

Visited the bike shop with Bruce and Jose on the border of Taipei.
No, not fixed-bike shop, they were soupping up Harley Davidsons in this one...

Bruce checking on status of his new toy...

Men don't stop playing with toys... just upping the cost of their toys..
So, in a sense, this is a toy shop as well.

Taipei #1

Don't be upset, Hailey. You know how the stock market is....
I guess her broker just gave her some bad news about HSBC...

-------------------------
If you were following me on Twitter, which I know you didn't, you'd know that I was actually in Taiwan all week last week.

Love the city and its street fashion environment. Got that Harajuku feel to it, where everybody is doing their own thing, but at the same time, very willing to work together. That's a good thing.

Went to see my bro Jukai at Phalanx Studio.
Brought me to try some of the local food, which was great as always.
More G-Robots on the way, btw.

Mark Chang setup PIXIE Gallery Shop a few years ago, although he's no longer with PIXIE, he is still doing alot to help promote the designer figure scene in TW.

Don't remember what this actually was, but it was good, as I remember...

Tuna and Tweets

Havent updated this blog for a few days, but I got the hang of using Twitter.
Is a bit easier to trash talk with one-liners and do so from my cell phone.
So, if you are using Twitter, tune into my channel, and I'll continue to waste your time on yet another digital platform.

Enjoyed a wonderful Sunday brunch in Hong Kong. Family time, nuff said.

Suitman

Met up with Young the Suitman for a coffee.
Always a blast catching up with him, his ideas always make me just pause and go "hmmm.. this is ill, let's do it!!"

While I was waiting for Young in front of SOGO, I ran into this .... yup.. these folks were definitely pissed off about HSBC and the gov...

Finally found this, simple-classics.
PUMA black on black Clyde.

be TOUGH

Came back to Hong Kong a few days ago, catching up with some local projects. Havent been back for a few months.

Does anyone else also think this is all a little too ironic??
Or am I thinking too much into this??

-----------------------------------------

Just started using Twitter.
This was prompted to me by long time friend Gabriel Li. Thx dude.
I'm too slow on these things.

Kaiju / UK Size 45 Clyde

Head is filled with monsters and kaijus as of late....

New friend Robin trying on a UK Size 45 CLYDE at the shop...
Told you this ain't your size, Robin,.. you don't listen...

Monsters are here

The "Japanese Movie Monsters Pack" from PUMA finally showed up at the studio.
These came out even better than I imagined when I saw the introduction a few months ago. These will be sold in Mainland China exclusively at Iconic-1 Shanghai in a month. Other countries might offer these as early as the end of this month. Quite excited about this series, because PUMA went beyond just swapping colors and adding a few graphics onto this special edition. And by using already iconic shoe models such as Clyde, Mid, First Round and the Stepper, PUMA got the ingredients to make this pack an instant classic.

On the other hand, SOLEBOX in Berlin is set to release their collabo with PUMA as well.
SOLEBOX chose the R698 model to base their design on. Came out nicely.
But nowadays, you can't just have a shoe and expect it to have as much bang as before. The sneaker world has changed, for better or worse. SOLEBOX made a rug to coincide with the sneaker drop as well. THAT is nice. Actually, nicer than the shoes themselves. (not knocking the shoes)

New stuff

I realize DKE has just begun taking orders for MEGA MOLE and the ICONIC-1 YOKA, and it seems like a slow month in terms of new releases. Well, it is. Because we are actually spending the time on producing different series, and "series" take up more time. New protos are showing up at the studio every week, and I'm kinda losing track of what's coming out when.

Today, I'll show you these 2 pieces of goodies.
If you have questions, ask DACOSTA!

B-Boy in Shanghai : Day 2

Just a few photos from the finals of B-Boy in Shanghai.
Exciting nite to say the least.

Danny Wang greeting everyone to the event.
Nice shirt, Danny.

Friend Bee Wong came over from Guangzhou to be with us that nite.

Oneway's K was in town on other business affairs.
Good to see you, buddy.

adFunture's own, Yoyo, and Alien Ness ended the nite by awarding to the Best Flavor Dancer.

It was great to see people had fun watching and participating.
We might do more things like this in the near future.
Just to keep everyone on the edge of their seats.
Don't let the situation keep us down!

B-Boy in Shanghai : Day 1

Last Thursday nite, I got off the plane from Beijing to Shanghai and went directly to do the final venue check for B-Boy in Shanghai event. Saw our crew did everything right, and both venues looked cool. From the look of things, I can travel a bit more from now on without having to worry too much about what has to be done in the Shanghai quarter. I can see my next Taipei visit happening sooner than I originally planned, Hong Kong too.

Day 1 of the B.B.I.S. was held at CASTER Studio.
Over 150 B-Boys showed up at the studio from all over Mainland China.
Facing off in 5-vs-5 and 3-vs-3 battles, the winning crews will face off in the finals in the following nite at CANDY Club.

Our main man for the event, Danny Wang.
Making sure everyone and everything are in order.
And in order everything was.

Our key judge, Alien Ness, looking on carefully.

I don't dance, and it was simply breath-taking to see what these kids can do on the mat. Mad respect.
