Griffey Max 1 / Subcrew x Devilock x Clot / McQueen PUMA

Was walking around Iconic-1's neighborhood this afternoon, and found a shop I never noticed near the block; a sportscards store. I thought sports trading cards were already extinct in Mainland. The only shop selling Upper Deck and Topps I could remember was the one I found like 9 years ago, and that closed down. Interesting to have found one right near the Iconic. It wasn't open today due to Lunar Holidays, but surely I'll pay this store a visit once everybody goes back to work. Topps? Wow.

With that note still in my mind, I came back in front of the computer and found yet another familiar name in that gendre; Ken Griffey Jr. Apparently, Nike will produce a shoe in his name; Air Griffey Max 1. That's the name I read on Hypebeast, don't know if that is the official name for the model. The Seattle Marniers colorway certainly has its value as Griffey has expressed his wish to retire as a Mariners. Since the White Sox didn't sign him at the end of last season, who knows, he might end up in Seattle again next year. We'll see.

"What's with all these trucker caps in Asia??"
Well.
What's with all these New Eras fitted caps in the States?!

While New Eras is the king of fitted caps, today, Subcrew from Hong Kong is the king of trucker caps in Asia. I started wearing their caps a year and a half ago and never looked back. The shape and materials they used are simply next level shit. All of our adFunture headwears are now produced by these folks as well.

Subcrew, Clot and Devilock are set to release yet another round of 3-way collabo.
No hype needed here, is a trucker cap, and is gonna fly out quickly.
Cop one if you get the chance.

In 2009, Alexander McQueen continues his collaborations with sports lifestyle giant PUMA. While I saw the footwear line in the PUMA trade show, I didn't see these apparels. It will be interesting to see if this next line can win as much hearts as the McQueen footwears.

Just walking around

Mainland celebrates Lunar New Year ... quietly.

This was not my first Lunar holiday in Shanghai, but this one seems especially quiet. Maybe because of the economy, maybe because of the colder than usual weather, or, maybe is just ME.

Happy New Year, Tim. Good things will turn up, I assure you, bro.

Happy Lunar New Year

Spent the past few days with family and will continue to do so over the next few.
Chinese Lunar New Year is about family, I try to cope with this workless week.

Here I wish all of you a happy New Year, may all the best wishes find their way to you and your families.

Is a Chinese tradition to wear new clothes on New Years Day.

I picked this green checkered jacket from BRAiNCHiLD for my new year.
Need to decide on a pair of shoes....

BRAiNCHiLD / CHIBIS for DaRUMA

As more and more products are coming into Iconic-1, we are happy to see customers having more choices to choose from when they walk into the shop. Latest addition to the catalog is BRAiNCHiLD from Taiwan.

Picked this line up because it is less "street wear", and more thoughts were put on materials and cutting. Wait til you see the velvet hoody....

Very lucky to be the only door for BC outside of Taiwan.
Thx to the support of Mykal, Jess and Bruce.

---------------------------------------------

You guys like this? You should. I do.
Will this be available at your local dealers? Nope.
These were made exclusively for the DaRUMA boys in New York.
Designed by DACOSTA.

Hopefully, these Chibis will bring everyone great luck in 2009.

I HEART U

As we trying to release items earlier than previous years, Valentine's YOKAs are already delivered to our studio.

Wanted to maximize the usage of space of YOKA's belly, decided to use 3 pieces to make up for this one important message....

------------------------------------------------

Saw this post on Hypebeast this morning.
So some people do read our website..... that's good to know.
Teddy Troops S3 ratios were posted on the FEATURE section last week, in case some of you thought I forgot to post it as promised.
Browse around the site...is ok, go ahead.

------------------------------------------------

Lastly, would like to say HAPPY BIRTHDAY to Brigitte!
My ever-supportive sister.
Sorry, I worked til 5am this morning, and didn't call to bless you.
Very sorry. :-)

PUMA & Sam Lee @ Hang Zhou SOS

Went to Hang Zhou on Friday for PUMA's Volo Ocean Race (VOR) event at Club SOS.
Hosted at one of the hottest clubs in HZ, PUMA is bringing their message directly to consumers rather than hosting an invitees-only gala event. Works right well to a certain degree. The sports lifestyle company has a different take on marketing comparing to its rivals. It will be interesting to see how everything plays out at the end of the day.

Subcrew's own SAM LEE was DJ'ing at the event that night.
He draws a crowd, that was within expectation, of course.

Nicole was the organizer of the event, and she spent her birthday there as well.
So I guess it was a right choice for me to have went.
Belated-Happy Birthday, Nicole.

-----------------------------------

This is ironic... I watched the movie WALL-E twice today...
And then I found this on ToysREvil..

Korean Lego-fan Gyuta built this transformable Wall-e.
Very cool, dude.

NOKIA's Music Almighty

Quite a few months ago, I was invited by W+K London to participate in NOKIA's Music Almighty Headphone Design Competition. Not to enter the contest, of course, but to be on the panel of judges for the event. I took it as an honor to even to be asked, thank you, guys.

After a short period of time, over 6000 entries came into the pool.
Alot of amazing designs in that pool of entries.
We the judges had the fun task of picking out 5 winning designs...
5 out of 6000... love that ratio.

Winners were announced here.
Check out the mini site while you are there.

Some folks thought I was wearing a 2nd generation of our roundel logo cap this past weekend.
Nope.
There's another logo in the middle of our logo.
I'll leave that to your imagination.
But no matter what, this will drop at the end of the month.

MEGAMOLE in true colors

As some of you have already seen the announcement last week, MEGAMOLE has already been shipped out and would be available in a calculat-able period of time.

The colors on this piece is quite vibrant. I think this photo does it more justice than the one we have previously posted.

Teddy Troop Series 3 has been pretty well recieved, that's the message we're getting from our distributors. A big thank you goes out to all you TT collectors out there.

And YES, there are ratios, and we'll be posting it this week. We wanted you to have fun with the actually purchases and seeing the Troops with your own eyes before worrying about all the "chases", "ratios", etc. You like it you like it, doesn't really matter how rare or how many were made. Afterall, the mini-series wasn't meant to be a hi-end art collectible piece. Have fun with them.

I'm still trying to re-coop from the eventful weekend. By now, most of the visitors have left the city, and I can sleep a little bit earlier tonite (like 3am..). Lunar New Year is a week away, and most factories will be closed by then, if not earlier. No factory sampling for a few weeks. However, we have some stuff in the works that I've already took photos of. Will show you a few projects during the holidays (the Chinese holidays, you'll be working in the USA!)

Like I said last year, although the economic downturn, we will continue to release the projects that we have planned. So, collectors can look forward to another 12-months full of releases from adFunture.

ICONIC-1 OPENS

The past Saturday was the opening event for ICONIC-1 in Shanghai.
Many friends came thru the doors that freezing day.
Mad appreciation to you all.

Ribbon cutting ceremony, seems like a Cantonese tradition.
Lef to right; K Cheung, Bee Wong, Yoyo, me, Wade.

The group shot after everybody left, and a bunch of us went to dinner.
The real fun started there.

My folks came to the opening, I must say that was the most important part for me.

Good friend Nie Zheng came over to the event from Beijing.
Arrived in the morning, left before dinner. A BIG thank you, Nie.

Part of the ICONIC-1 Family, Wade from REVELATOR, came from Taipei to be with us that day. We spent a fun weekend in town as well. Good to have you here, bro.

FIRE PANDA's own Bee Wong.
Don't let that face fool ya, he's one funny dude.

No stranger to this blog by now, K from ONEWAY.
Alright, HK represents!

Hasheeme and Hazel.
Thank you for coming to SH.

Hello, Dick.
Rocking in style.

Danny has to be one of the most respect b-boy in Mainland. Hands down.

Tim Wu.
You just woke up, haven't you?!

2 of our hostesses.
Thx for the day's work, I know, it was freezing.

Enough photos for one post.
Shop photos will be posted later.
Lastly, I would like say one last BIG THANK YOU for everyone involved to make this a successful event. And of course, thank you for all of your support.

Jan Release Updates

More to drop in the month of Jan...
Folks who are interested can check out of FEATURE Section. We are still a bit behind, but hopefully, we can post up the Feb Releases soon. No point of posting it up at the end of Feb....

TOPO collectors can find MEGAMOLE by DGPH in this release. Price changed a bit, downwards.
200 pieces made only.

-------------------------------------------

"IP MAN" is a movie for everybody. Folks who love watching movies about Chinese Kung-Fu should definitely check this one out. It is also about respect, loyality and family values. "Ip" is a Chinese last name, actually, same as mine, "Yip" is the Cantonese spelling, while "Ip" is the Mandarin spelling of the same Chinese character; it means "leaf". But nope, I'm far from the "Yip Man". The story was based on a real person, Mr. Ip Man, who was the driving force behind the school of Yong Chun Quan (永春拳), a form of Chinese Kung-Fu. Mr. Ip was also the mentor of the well-known Bruce Lee.

Digged up a photo of the real Ip Man with Bruce Lee.

ICONIC-1 YOKA

Got these made for the opening event this Sat. in Shanghai.
ICONIC-1 YOKAs.
Got some put aside for International as well, worry not.
This one has to be the coolest looking one so far, going for the mono-tone treatment.

J.ME., proper graphic of our new releases are on the front page.
Go grab those instead.

A few more Yokas along the way

A new group of samples arrived the studio this evening.
Did Halloween and X'mas, so why not Chinese New Year?!
The panda face is making a come-back since the original release.
Hope you dig.
(see the black one in the back as well? what might that be??)

Finally saw the movie Eagle Eye last nite.
Is not just another movie trying to poke fun at the concept of Homeland Security.
It is actually a very exciting flick to watch.
Lots of car crashes if that's what you are into.
Shila LaBeouf , from the TRANSFORMER fame, tried on a more serius role, and does quite well.

PUMA Roma Hi

Remember that KONJINSHA Mini-Computer I started using?
I promised to report back after awhile...
Well, I'm here to report that "No, I don't like it."

To be fair, it is a tiny computer, so the RAMs on this thing aren't high.
However, I didn't expect it to be that slow...

Don't expect to photoshop alot on your trips with this.
For regular web browsing, sure. Is fine.
I don't HATE it, hate is a strong word. I don't love it though, that's for sure.

-------------------------------

This I like; a new ROMA Hi by the PUMA boys.
Nice job on the orange and olive colored hits.
Call me bias, but PUMA has been making a few right moves as of late.
Have you seen the JAPANESE MONSTER PACK that are slated to come out in March?
Those are ill. Definitely cop a few pairs of those when they come out.

Happy New Year!

HAPPY NEW YEAR, EVERYBODY!!!

Let the firworks burst, bring us all better luck for 2009!
We all know we'll need some luck in one form or another in 2009.
Haha. (well, is true...)

We ended our year by gathering at Red Dot for a count-down dinner.
Edward the Chef, not me, prepared a great meal for us.

Our main course... yumm...
Thank you, Edward. You spoil us everytime.

The boys and girls from our studio office drinking til they drop...

We got Rosa and Yoyo.
People ordering online and wholesale should be no stranger to Yoyo by now.
Rosa takes care of our printed material, and a few YOKA designs from time to time.

Box and his girl Fey-Fey.
The x-rated BUKA designs in Chinese Design Series were by this man, Box, you may direct all the hate-mails to him. ha ha.
He left the studio for a few months, and as of Jan 1st, he's back on the team. Alright, Box, I'll let you back in! Com'on, brother. You guys will be seeing alot of his works over the next few months.
With him back into the picture, I'll be out of the office most of the time.
Is my turn to take a friggin' break from all this.

Is your turn, bro.

Woods came to the dinner late, so, no photo! Next time, don't be late!

Happy New Year!
Tons of stuff waiting on deck for the new year.

Andy, I got ya on my list.
Don't you worry.
